Tasked with replicating Carin Goldberg’s iconic graphic design style, I immediately did lots of design studies on her work and analog process. I had to create a poster in in her style of work where it’s content would feature a random craiglist ad; an advertisement selling an old aquarium. I dived into hand-lettering studies, while also trying to capture Goldberg’s frenetic and analog approach.
Replicating Carin Goldberg’s style was all about looking into analog process. I started by cutting and pasting different typographic compositions and eventually created a hand-made version of my poster before returning to the computer. I wanted to study corals and fish scales so I made abstracted cloth textures and pieces that reminded me of coral reefs and fish before scanning them into my poster.
